Match History: Because Some Chats Deserve a Second Round
Ever Lose a Connection Unexpectedly?
Picture this. You’re chatting with someone on Thundr and the conversation is actually going somewhere.
They love the same obscure anime you do, they’ve somehow seen every terrible movie you secretly enjoy, and they’re wearing a shirt of your favorite indie band.
Then it happens.
The chat ends.
Maybe someone clicked away by accident. Maybe your internet gave out for a split second. Or maybe you had one of those moments where your brain waits until three seconds after the conversation ends to realize, “Wait. I actually wanted to keep talking to that person.”
Random video chat has always been built around one simple idea: you never know who is coming next. That unpredictability is half the fun.
But sometimes, the person you actually want to talk to is the person who just disconnected.
That is where Match History comes in. We’ve seen your comments on the official Thundr Reddit page. That is why we have built this highly requested feature and launched it in August 2026.
What Is Match History on Thundr?
Match History gives you a way to see the people you recently matched with, instead of watching every conversation disappear into the digital abyss.
Your Match History displays your last 10 matches from the past hour. You can see how long ago you matched with someone and what country they were from. Once you’ve reached 10 recent matches, any new matches will replace the oldest ones.
From there, you have two choices.
You can ask someone to rematch and reconnect through video chat.
Or, if the interaction was somebody you would rather never encounter again, you can block them.
Simple.
Random chat stays random, but now a good conversation does not necessarily have to be a one-and-done event.

How Rematching Works
We’ve all had conversations that ended before they should have.
With Match History, you can find that recent match and send the person a request to video chat again.
They will receive a Rematch Request letting them know that you want to reconnect. They can then accept or decline the invitation. If they accept, you will be connected through video chat again.
If they are already offline, Match History will let you know that they are unavailable so you can try again later.
And if you happen to receive a rematch request while you are already talking to somebody else, it will not crash the party. The request only appears after your current chat ends.
Every 24 hours, the first Rematch Request requires 50 coins, and every subsequent request after that is 100 coins, before resetting back to 50 coins.
What Happens If They Decline?
Rejection happens.
Sometimes a conversation might feel electric to you, but the other person is ready to move on to their next adventure. That is part of talking with strangers.
If somebody declines your rematch request, you will need to wait 10 minutes before sending that same person another invitation.
Requests also do not sit around forever; a request expires after five minutes if the other person takes no action. After an expired request, you can try that person again after a short waiting period.
Coins are refunded if a request expires or if you cancel before they can take an action.
The goal is to give people another shot at connecting without turning Match History into an endless stream of invitations.
Sometimes you reconnect.
Sometimes you don't.
Life goes on, and on Thundr there is always another random chat waiting.
Can You Cancel a Rematch Request?
Changed your mind after sending a rematch request? No problem.
As long as the other person has not accepted or declined the request and the invitation has not expired, you can cancel it before anything happens.
Once you cancel, there is a 60-second cooldown before you can send another rematch request to that same user.
It gives you a little breathing room if you clicked too quickly, while still keeping Match History simple and preventing repeated requests from being sent back-to-back.
Match History Gives You More Control
Rematching is only half of the feature.
Match History also gives you another way to control who you encounter on Thundr.
If someone from a previous conversation made you uncomfortable or you simply know you never want to video chat with them again, you can block that person directly from Match History.
Blocking is permanent, so Thundr asks you to review that choice carefully before confirming it. Once someone is blocked, you will not be matched with that person again.
That distinction matters.
The fun of random chat comes from surrendering a little control. You do not know exactly who will appear when you start your next conversation.
But surrendering all control is a different story.
Match History lets the randomness continue while giving you another tool to decide which connections deserve another conversation, and more importantly, which ones definitely do not.
Why Match History Makes Random Chat Better
There is a funny tension at the heart of random video chat.
Part of you wants to discover somebody completely new, while another part of you occasionally thinks, “Actually, can I have the last person back?”
Until now, those two ideas worked against each other.
Match History brings them a little closer together.
You can still jump into Thundr and experience the mystery of meeting a stranger from another city, country, or corner of the internet. Match History does not turn random chat into traditional social media.
The next person is still a mystery.
You just have a small window to reconsider the last few.
That could mean another conversation with the person who made you laugh.
Another chance to finish a story.
Another opportunity to find out whether the chemistry from your first chat survives a second one.
And sometimes, it could simply mean correcting that accidental skip that’s haunting you.
A Second Chance at a Great Conversation

Some random chats last ten seconds.
Others somehow turn into an hour.
That unpredictability is what makes meeting strangers online so entertaining in the first place. You never really know whether the next conversation will be awkward, hilarious, interesting, or completely unforgettable.
With Match History, an unforgettable conversation does not always have to disappear the second the chat ends.
Check your recent matches. Find the person you want to talk to again. Send them a rematch request and see whether lightning strikes twice.
Because sometimes the best person to meet next is somebody you already met.
We’ve read your Reddit posts, listened to your stories of missed connections, and digested your feedback. That’s why we made Match History a priority feature for Thundr, and we can’t wait for you to give it a try.
